CB Scholarship Fund Provides Needed Financial Support for Business Students
Scholarships help fund the education of some of our brightest students, like Mia Young & Leila Haji. Mia is majoring in Economics & Public Policy with upper division honors. Leila is double majoring in Business Administration with a Marketing Management specialization, Art with a Graphic Design specialization, and minoring in Digital Marketing and Art History. Also, Mia is the Economics Association Club President and Leila is the Women in Business Club President.
Mia states, “Coming from a single-parent household, I came to CWU intending to pay for tuition myself. Although I qualified for some aid, I was under the impression that I would have to pay for college through a payment plan. Thanks to scholarships, I did not have to do that, and I had more time to focus on extracurriculars on campus. This trade-off has allowed me to be more involved with the Economics Association. I never thought I would have the time to be the Economics Association president and the student-lead researcher of the Student Price Index research project. I am so thankful that these opportunities have allowed me to network and gain experience in ways I never imagined.”
Leila states, “Growing up as a child of immigrant parents, I used to believe that obtaining a college degree was an unattainable dream. Despite putting in my best effort, financial constraints always seemed to hinder my progress. Thankfully, scholarships proved to be a lifeline, greatly reducing my financial burden, and allowing me to focus on my studies. With the newfound freedom, I decided to double major and double minor, determined to transform my once-impossible dream into a reality. As graduation approaches, I am thrilled to see my hard work paying off and feel proud of the journey I've taken to get here.”
