This project will fund stickers that remind students and researchers in the Chemistry, Biology and Geology labs of the energy savings of keeping fume hood sashes closed, and to implement a recycling program.
This project, led by CWU Chemistry and Sustainability Certificate student Emma Nelson, has two goals. The first goal is to raise $500 to fund Shut the Sash Fume Hood signs, which can reduce energy use by 40%. The second goal is to raise $2500 to support a personal protective equipment recycling program in appropriate teaching/research laboratories.
Emma is working to cultivate sustainability in CWU’s laboratories, one of the most resource intensive spaces on campus. Visit the cwu.edu/sustainability/sustainable-laboratories to learn more.
