College of the Sciences Dean, Tim Englund, believes in transforming students' lives. As dean, he actively supports and promotes experiences for students that change their lives. The COTS Dean’s Fund for Excellence provides resources to make his vision reality.
The Dean's Fund for Excellence is used to support undergraduate research in all College of the Sciences (COTS) departments and programs and to create opportunities for all COTS students with particular attention on first-generation and underrepresented students. The fund also supports and rewards faculty development as teachers and scholars, emphasizing the important and positive impact CWU COTS faculty have on the student experience.

The College of the Sciences prepares students for enlightened and productive lives through the intertwined endeavors of learning and research in the classroom, laboratory, and field. As practitioners of scientific inquiry, students and faculty create and apply knowledge to solving human, social and environmental problems. The college values instruction, research, and service as interdependent activities that enable human curiosity and discovery.
