The Science Talent Expansion Program (STEP) supports STEM students in their first year at CWU to build a community of scholars by organizing early research and engagement experiences, providing a Living Learning Community in Kamola Hall, arranging three courses students take together in their first quarter, and facilitating students in connecting with a faculty mentor.
STEP provides scholarships to students with financial need.
Here's what students are saying about STEP:
“The STEP program put me on a path towards a STEM career that I may have not have ever considered without diving head first into science with undergrad research. Thank you for that, this program … has shaped my career trajectory and the way I perceive much of the world around me.” – Chemistry major
“I think that the most beneficial aspects of STEP is the opportunity it gives students to develop relationships with faculty and benefit from the knowledge and mentorship they provide.” – Geological Science major
“This program has surpassed my expectations. The STEP program has helped me to become a better scientist.” – Physics major
